Description:
The Boston Interpreters Collective in conjunction with Radical Movie Night at the Lucy Parsons Center presents: Tambien La Lluvia/Even the Rain (2010) 103mins
Come meet current BIC members and learn about the collective and the upcoming Interpreting for Multilingual Justice workshop and watch this great film!
Spanish director Sebastian, his executive producer Costa and all his crew are in Bolivia, in the Cochabamba area, to shoot a motion picture about Christopher Columbus' invasion of the Americas. Costa has chosen this place because the budget of the film is tight and here he can hire supernumeraries, local actors and extras on the cheap. Things go more or less smoothly until a conflict erupts over the privatization of the water supply. One of the local actors, is a leading activist in the protest movement.
Great depiction of imperialism past & present, with insight into the Cochambamba Water Wars as well as Columbus destruction of the Americas and indigenous resistance.
