WHY:
1) To understand/assess who is doing what in greater Boston
2) To see if we can pool our limited resources and help families together.
3) To share/create a common list of resources/ OR collate all the resources we each have in our workplaces
4) To see if there are technological ways to support crisis intervention and resource sharing
5) To be in a space of solidarity and contribute skills, talent and passion for immigrant rights.
6) Resources are scarce, People are stretched and overworked, And with TPS opened up for Haiti -- our legal service/community resources are going to be overwhelmed.
The evening is hosted by:
Full Circle New Media, a collaboration among Centro Presente/Deported Diaspora/MataHari: Eye of the Day/Mass Global Alliance/Open Media Boston. We have been working together over the past few months to document stories of people affected by raids/detention as well as to work on larger issues of how immigrants and their stories are captured/placed in the media. And working on trying to use New Media technology to help broadcast injustices that we in our immigrant communities face on a daily basis. We have longer term visions of doing work transnationally to link up local immigrant communities to their home communities across the globe through community organizing and enhanced by the usage of new media technology to facilitate communication abroad.
